PATRIOTS PLAYER REPLACEMENTS AHEAD OF CPL 2018

The St Kitts & Nevis Patriots have made two additions to their squad ahead of the 2018 Hero Caribbean Premier League which kicks off on 8th August in Guyana. The newest members of the Patriots family, joining to aid in this season’s championship push are Rassie Van der Dussen and Hayden Walsh Jr. The tournament will run until 16th September and will feature matches played in St Kitts, Trinidad, Guyana, Barbados, Jamaica, St Lucia and the USA. The Patriots home games are slated from August 28th-September 4th.

The Patriots will be joined by Rassie van der Dussen for the second half of the season as Sandeep Lamicchane is leaving for national duty with Nepal on 26thAugust. A right-handed opening batsman, Rassie van der Dussen made his first-class debut in 2008. If one considers his high run-scoring tendency in addition to his stunning consistency, Van der Dussen becomes an instant choice as a reliable T20 opener and is a match-winner in his own right. Amongst all batsmen available in the IPL auctions, only Evin Lewis had a better ratio of high impact performances in  2017. Graeme Cremer is now unavailable due to injury. He is being replaced by Antiguan cricketer, Hayden Walsh Jr. Walsh Jr. is a 26-year-old left hand middle order batsman and a right arm off-break with capabilities as a leg spinner bowler who was born in St Croix and has played for the Leeward Islands.

Speaking about the new additions to the squad Patriots Head Coach Donovan Miller said: “It is always sad to lose players that we drafted but in Hayden Walsh Jr and Rassie van der Dussen we have two players that we are very confident will succeed at this year’s Hero CPL as we look to go one game better than last year and win the tournament in 2018.”
