The St Kitts & Nevis Patriots produced a complete team performance to secure their first points of the Caribbean Premier League 2026, defeating the Saint Lucia Kings by five wickets with 14 balls to spare at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium.

Playing their second match of the tournament, the Patriots responded strongly after their opening defeat to Trinbago Knight Riders. They chased down 156 with authority, finishing on 156/5 in 17.4 overs and putting their campaign back on track.

The foundation for the victory was laid with the ball. After the Kings opted to bat first, Saurabh Netravalkar struck twice early, removing Andries Gous for four and Ackeem Auguste for a duck. The Kings were suddenly under pressure at 12/2, but Jewel Andrew and Kamil Pooran changed the momentum with an aggressive partnership.

Andrew played a composed yet attacking innings, scoring 58 from 42 balls with two fours and four sixes. At the other end, Pooran provided the acceleration, smashing 54 from just 30 deliveries, including seven fours and three sixes. Their partnership put the Kings in a strong position and threatened to take the total well beyond 160.

The Patriots, however, found a way back.

Pooran’s dismissal through a run-out ended the dangerous partnership, and Jason Holder then produced a decisive burst. The Patriots captain dismissed Andrew and Charith Asalanka in the same over, turning the game around in a matter of deliveries. Holder finished with outstanding figures of 3/20 from four overs, while Netravalkar claimed 3/32.

The Kings eventually finished on 155/8 from their 20 overs. Despite two impressive half-centuries, the Patriots’ bowling attack had done enough in the latter stages to keep the target within reach.

The chase began in explosive fashion.

Johnson Charles immediately put the Kings under pressure, smashing 16 runs from only five balls, including two sixes. Although he fell soon afterwards, Kyle Mayers continued the assault. Mayers struck 32 from 16 deliveries, hitting three fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 200.

That rapid start gave the Patriots a crucial advantage and allowed Andre Fletcher to take control of the chase.

Fletcher played the anchor role brilliantly. With wickets falling around him, the experienced batter remained composed and ensured the required rate never became a major concern. He finished unbeaten on 48 from 41 balls, including three fours and a six, and was named Player of the Match.

Kevin Wickham contributed 19 from 20 balls, while Dasun Shanaka added 12 from nine. Captain Holder then helped Fletcher take the Patriots closer to victory before Wanindu Hasaranga provided the finishing touch.

With two runs needed to win, Hasaranga smashed Matthew Forde over the keeper’s head for six, completing the chase in emphatic fashion. The Patriots reached 156/5 after 17.4 overs, sealing a five-wicket victory with 14 balls still remaining.

For the Patriots, it was more than just a win. It was a response.

After starting their CPL 2026 campaign with defeat, they bounced back with disciplined bowling, aggressive batting and calm execution under pressure. Holder and Netravalkar set the tone with the ball, Mayers and Charles provided the early fireworks, and Fletcher ensured the chase remained under control.

The Patriots now have their first points on the board and, more importantly, momentum on their side. Their second outing of CPL 2026 ended with a statement: this Patriots side has plenty of fight, depth and firepower.
