Patriots Defeat Kings by 137 Runs at Warner Park
Dasun Shanaka’s record-breaking 121* and Jeremiah Louis’ five-wicket haul headline a dominant all-round performance
Shanaka Turns the Game on Its Head
Asked to bat first after Saint Lucia Kings won the toss, the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots made the most of their opportunity at Warner Park, posting a formidable 235/4 in 20 overs.
The innings did not begin explosively. The Patriots had managed only 10 runs from the opening three overs and lost Kyle Mayers early. But Andre Fletcher soon changed the tempo, taking on the Kings attack and racing to a brilliant 64 off 38 balls.
After Fletcher’s departure, Dasun Shanaka took complete control. The Sri Lankan batter shifted through the gears with remarkable speed, reaching his half-century from just 24 balls before accelerating further.
He brought up his century in only 39 balls, setting a new record for the fastest century in CPL history, breaking the previous 40-ball mark.
Shanaka remained unbeaten on 121 from 43 balls, striking eight fours and 12 sixes. His innings became the highest individual score by a Patriots batter in CPL history, while his 12 sixes also set a new franchise record for most sixes by a Patriots’ batter in a CPL innings.
His unbeaten 121 powered the Patriots to 235/4, the highest team total in CPL 2026 so far.
Louis Leads a Ruthless Bowling Display
With a huge target on the board, the Patriots’ bowlers ensured the Kings never came close to mounting a challenge.
The pressure began immediately as Kamil Pooran fell in the opening over. John Campbell and Charith Asalanka followed during the powerplay, leaving the Kings at 46/3 after six overs.
Wanindu Hasaranga then struck to remove Obus Pienaar, before Jeremiah Louis produced the decisive spell.
Coming into the attack in the 10th over, Louis dismissed Roston Chase and Matthew Forde off successive deliveries. He continued to dismantle the Kings’ lower order, eventually finishing with sensational figures of 5/10 from 2.5 overs.
It was Louis’ maiden five-wicket haul in T20 cricket.
Ashmead Nedd and Hasaranga claimed two wickets apiece, while Naseem Shah added one as the Patriots bowled Saint Lucia out for just 98 in 13.5 overs.
A Night of Records for the Patriots
The result gave the Patriots a commanding 137-run victory, setting a new record for the biggest win by runs in CPL history, surpassing the previous 133-run mark.
It was a night where the Patriots dominated with both bat and ball, Shanaka rewriting the CPL record books with the fastest century, while Louis produced a career-best T20 bowling performance.
The Patriots delivered a complete performance at Warner Park, with individual brilliance turning into a statement team victory.
